Here we have a quality and rare set of Mahogany armorial hall chairs, the target-turned backs are painted with the crest of Colonel Robert Cornelis Napier of Magdala, they have solid seats and turned forelegs and date to 1840.
Colonel Robert Cornelis Napier was a British army officer who fought in the first & second anglo sikh wars before seeing action as chief engineer during the second relief of Lucknow in 1858.
These chairs bear his crest and were reputedly owned by him, they came from a single owner large country house auction.
