Rare Norwegian Self-Acting Cooking Apparatus

A really odd and rare item this, the Norwegian self-acting cooking apparatus, retailed by S.W Silver London Ltd, there have only ever been two of these gone through auction and both are now in museums, reputedly HRH Prince of Wales took one on a crusie up the Nile in 1864.

The box is fitted out with packed horse hair which allows the contents on the metal oval tin to remain cold in summer and also keeps hot things hot, the original paper label is in situ.
