Here we have a Charles I revival oak wainscot chair, carved scrolling top with a Duke of Devonshire coat of arms, above a motto "Cavendo Tutus", on a panel back carved with William Cavendish incorus Rex Earl of Devonshire 2nd August 1618" and the Cavendish family motto, Cavendo Tutus, commemorating the bestowing of the title in 1618, flanked by foliage carving, scrolling armrest on Hispanic turned supports, on a two plank seat, over a carved apron with "Ye Second date of August Ano 1618 Saly", raised on Hispanic beaded supports legs on block on bun supports united by stretchers. Provenance: The Content of Unicorn Brewery, Stockport.
